The City of Stratford is positioned at the conjunction of the Des Moines River valley and the Boone River valley. The town is conveniently located just off of State Highway 175 and just a short hop from the Brushy Creek Recreational Area.
This community enjoys a wealth of outdoor opportunities. The City Park has two shelters including one that offers a kitchen and two playground areas; one geared to older children and another that is more appropriately size for the little kiddos. A gazebo sets the stage for many events from the annual Bluegrass Festival to a setting for an outdoor wedding. Many ages ranges of folks enjoy the Stratford Municipal Pool. The recently renovated pool offers a zero depth entry and oodles of fun and classes.
This friendly small town boasts of a library, a community center, a K-6 Stratford Elementary School, churches, a main street full of business and many home-based businesses.
The 2010 census showed the Stratford population to be 743 people which is up from the 1990 census at 679 people. The town remains energetic with an active community development group and promotion committee. Stratford’s downtown storefronts possess renovated historical facades.
